A group of 24 volunteers led by Co-Chair Rich Sinclair and Diane Sichrest have agreed to take over the Salem Community High School All Class Reunion.
Organizers of the past two events were ready to drop the once every five-year program if new leadership could not be found. Spokesperson Rita Boudet says members felt they were getting too old to put on the event again. She is grateful the new group has stepped up. Boudet feels the event means a lot to those who attend and the alumni will be happy the event has been saved.
Sinclair says the date has been set for the next All Class Reunion. It will be held on October 23rd and 24th, 2020. Initial plans include creating an Alumni Band similar to the one at the 2005 reunion and to have a dinner dance as well as meetings of individual classes.
More volunteers are being sought. Those who would like to help are asked to contact Kathy Littrell at 803-318-1414.
Boudet says the old six-member board is turning over what remains in the checking account for the last event so the new group has seed money to get started. The outgoing 2015 board includes Boudet, June Morris, Elizabeth Hite, Bev Hayes, Curt Lackey, and Dorene Cox.
